We support Virtuemart because it has been traditionally used in Joomla websites to provide e-commerce functonallity. For a new Joomal site that require a lower cost entry into e-Commerce we recommend MijoShop which is OpenCart intergrated into Joomla. If your demands, or vision, are more exacting them Magento is the only choice.
